The Foundations Framework

The IB bases its education access interventions on the Foundations Framework, an integral body of support comprising training, teaching tools, and administrative guidance.
Our training programmes centre around the core, foundation pedagogical concepts and the practical strategies that can increase student autonomy, encourage healthy life choices, and widen perspectives. By focusing on approach rather than content, the Foundations Framework distils the essential elements of IB philosophy and practice into a form that can be adapted to schools with resource constraints, high class sizes, and national curriculum requirements.
The Foundations Framework also provides an excellent base from which interested schools can prepare to enter the IB authorization process.
Through long-term training, mentoring, and a holistic whole school support framework, our global team empowers teachers, organizational leaders, and administrators to lead genuine, grassroots change in their schools and districts.
