Departure of director IB Africa, Europe, Middle East
After eighteen dedicated years at the IB, director for Africa, Europe, Middle East, Andrew Bollington, will be leaving to join the University of London External System as chief operating officer.
Andrew joined the IB in April 1991 when there were around 300 schools following the IB Diploma Programme. During the eighteen years that have passed, Andrew has progressed through the ranks of the organization into roles of increasing scope and responsibility. During the same time, the organization has grown ten-fold and has impacted the lives of countless students and teachers along the way.
The IB director general Jeffrey Beard said of Andrew,
His broad experience across the IB, and his solid contribution to improving the quality of services to schools, including his involvement early on with the Diploma Programme Online, have positioned him well to accept this post at the University of London. We wish him the very best in his future career.
