Celebrate Earth Day and take part in an IB global lesson!

Thursday 22 April 2010 marks this year’s celebration of Earth Day. Earth Day was designed to inspire awareness and appreciation for the earth’s environment and has been taking place for 40 years.

To mark Earth Day 2010 the IB would like to encourage IB World Schools to join with the wider community in activities relating to the planet we share.

Specially prepared global lessons for schools, to use on or around 22 April, have been posted on to the community theme website. In the Middle Years Programme there is a humanities lesson available and for the Diploma Programme there are lessons for theory of knowledge. One lesson is also suitable for use in Diploma Programme biology, geography and environmental systems and societies. These lessons, and suggestions on how Primary Years students can also be involved, are available in English, French and Spanish. IB World Schools are invited to take part in discussions after the lessons and interact in the forums on the community theme website.
