Ian Chambers appointed as new Regional Director for the Asia Pacific region

The IB has recently appointed Ian Chambers as the Regional Director for the Asia Pacific region with effect from 7 February 2011.

Over the past 11 years Ian has forged a successful career in education leadership and teaching. His most recent post was Regional Manager, Asia Pacific for University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) where he previously held the position of Regional Manager, South Asia based in New Delhi, India. These roles allowed him to successfully deliver the business strategy for CIE.,

During his career with CIE, Ian has developed institutional partnerships with Central and State Governments as well as the British Council and regional boards. He also co-ordinated the gathering of market and competitor intelligence on issues emerging locally and directed school support for the region. Ian’s experience will enable him to ensure success in his new role as Regional Director for the IB Asia Pacific region.

Of his appointment, Ian said, “I am delighted to have the opportunity to lead the Asia Pacific team and I’m excited to be working in such a vibrant region with endless possibilities for the advancement of IB. Together with my colleagues and the wider IB community, I look forward to effectively supporting schools by contributing my previous regional experience. - from teaching in Bangkok to managing the growth of an examination board in South Asia. Such experiences will enable me to be continually aware of the needs of educators and learners at all levels. The IB inspires and provides the right challenges to prepare students for a global world and I enthusiastically anticipate adding to this mission driven organization.”
