Delia Pompa has over 30 years of experience advising local, state and federal agencies, national and international organizations and academic institutions on how to understand and respond to the needs of children and their teachers. She is the founder and principal of DMP Associates, a consulting firm focused on improving educational access for children. She also serves as director of the Achievement Alliance, leading a coalition of organizations including the Business Roundtable, the Citizen’s Commission on Civil Rights, the Education Trust, Just for the Kids, and the National Council of La Raza. The coalition works to provide accurate, non-partisan information about student achievement.
Ms Pompa is the former director of the Office of Bilingual Education and Minority Languages Affairs in the US Department of Education and the former executive director of the National Association for Bilingual Education. She began her career as a kindergarten teacher in the Edgewood Independent School District in San Antonio, Texas. She went on to serve as an administrator in the Houston Independent School District and as assistant commissioner of the Texas Education Agency. She also served as director of education, adolescent pregnancy prevention, and youth development for the Children’s Defense Fund based in Washington, DC. Ms Pompa serves on a variety of national boards and committees for a wide range of institutions addressing the educational needs of children.
Delia is the chair of IB North America Board and a member of the IB compensation committee and governance committee.
