Since 1968, the IB has grown rapidly, and for the past five years, student numbers have grown by 12% each year. Managing quality is central to the challenge of our strategic plan to build a highly effective and efficient infrastructure.
As part of this plan, we are looking to an experienced and proactive senior tax professional responsible for the continued development, implementation and monitoring of tax and compliance procedures which reflect the high ethical standards of our organization.
Head of Tax
Reporting to the Finance Director/CFO, this position is responsible for leading both strategic and operational direct and indirect taxation within the IB. As a Non Governmental Organization the IB enjoys the benefits of tax positions consistent with a “for the public benefit” status. The role is actively engaged in protecting the IB’s tax positions in the key countries in which it operates and in establishing new positions in developing jurisdictions.
The Head of Tax manages the relationship with each tax authority in all countries in which we operate and is active in supporting the development activities in the IB to ensure future activities fall within the expectations of tax authorities.
Managing a team of 3 geographically dispersed managers responsible for the day to day affairs in each global centre, the Head of Tax will lead strategy, compliance, and advice throughout the IB. The role is based in Geneva and will work in close partnership with the Head of Financial Control and Internal Legal Counsel.
Role and responsibilities include:
- The establishment and ongoing agreement with the CFO and Finance Committee for the strategic direction of tax.
- The establishment and development of IB’s direct tax framework throughout the world in order to secure a sustainable tax exempt /minimal tax position within each local jurisdiction.
- The establishment and development of IB’s indirect tax framework throughout the world to ensure IB is compliant in all jurisdictions. To minimize exposure where possible.
- Ensuring all IB’s tax filings/matters are current, accurate and up to date.
- The advice to management on all matters relating to tax, particularly relating to the development of new activities, new ventures and new contracts.
Requirements:
- Education - University and completed professional finance/tax qualification
- Experience - 8 Years + in finance/tax/legal roles with proven ‘in-depth’ tax experience
- 4 Years + in a international company with an international role
- At or near senior position
- Working within matrix management structures
- Skills - Excellent communicator and leader and strong manager of professional external advisors
