Deputy Head of Diploma Assessment

Salary: £41,000 - £45,000 per year, dependent on experience

Due to our continued growth an exciting new post has arisen in the Assessment Directorate of the International Baccalaureate.  We are looking for a Deputy Head of Diploma Assessment to work closely with the Head of Diploma Assessment to provide technical expertise on assessment; promote and implement the assessment policies and practices of the Diploma Programme, and ensure the quality assurance of the assessment service to Diploma Programme schools around the world.

A key responsibility of the post is to take the lead on the staff development of the Subject Area Managers in all assessment activities, for example, developing assessment models as part of the curriculum review process, question setting and grade awarding. The post-holder will also have the opportunity to contribute to a range of e-initiatives across the Assessment Directorate at a time of rapid change in assessment in the IB.

You will be expected to develop a thorough knowledge and understanding of all courses within the Diploma Programme and all aspects of IB assessment in order to deputise effectively.

With a relevant first degree and/or postgraduate qualification or equivalent, you will have previous experience of working in a position of responsibility in an assessment environment, i.e. an examining/awarding body. You will have strong quantitative skills and the experience and capability in the technical aspects of criterion-related assessment.

You should have excellent organisational and communication skills, and substantial hands-on experience of managing staff and teams. Teaching or training experience and the ability to work in at least one other IB language (French/Spanish) would also be valued.
