French Translator Ref 338C
Salary: circa £20,000 per year, depending on experience

The language services department is currently seeking to appoint a French translator to join its lively and internationally diverse team. Working on a wide variety of documents for paper and web publication, the successful candidate will translate, revise and proofread material in French, and be involved in the coordination of translation projects. The jobholder will work closely with other translators, revisers and terminologists in the department as well as in-house editors, authors and production staff.
Successful candidates will need to demonstrate the following:
Essential
- university degree
- qualification or certification in translation
- solid work experience as a translator or reviser, ideally in an in-house position
- mastery of French equivalent to that of an educated native speaker
- excellent command of English
- proven translation, revising and editing skills
- good communication and organizational skills
Desirable
- knowledge about and sensitivity to international varieties of French, particularly
Canadian French
- some experience in project management
- experience of using computer-assisted translation software
- working knowledge of a third language
