Global Head of School Services - Middle Years Programme Ref 430a

The Global Head of School Services - Middle Years Program (MYP) is responsible for designing a global process for authorization and evaluation of MYP, enabling regional offices to deliver the process, and for creating and monitoring a quality assurance framework for this delivery.

The role has the responsibility for protecting the reputation of the IB for practicing a legitimate and reliable system of authorization and evaluation in relation to the Middle Years Programme.  The Global Head takes the intellectual standards and practices within the MYP division and designs a practical method of ascertaining that they are met.  The post holder develops and maintains a quality assurance mechanism to ensure the continuation of good practice.

The post holder plays an important role in monitoring the work of 3 Regional Middle Years Programme Managers as well as contributing to the work of the Online Curriculum Centre (OCC) and the Global Support Desk.

This post will exert influence and take direction from employees working in the Schools Division (School Services, Professional Development, Regional (Hub, Global Branch) as well as those working in the Programme Development office—since the role is to take standards from Programme Development and create processes that will be carried out by those in Global Branch offices.  This post then must monitor the execution of the processes and feedback to Programme Delivery and to the branch offices.  This post will interact with the organization’s communications infrastructure (especially the OCC and the Global Support Desk in order to explain to schools new procedures and processes created by this post regarding authorization and evaluation).

The Global Head of School Services – MYP will be responsible for: 

  • Develop and improve MYP quality assurance processes in order to achieve and ensure the highest level of customer service within the IB
  • Consistent global procedures for MYP quality assurance are created, implemented throughout the regions, monitored and the results analyzed
  • Improves the design of MYP authorization and evaluation processes
  • Global procedure for MYP authorization & evaluation is clearly communicated and areas of concern for schools are identified
  • Targets are set by Global Director of SS identifying the number of successful applications each budget year and these targets are met
  • Attrition rates are monitored and analyzed. Outcomes of analysis and needs for improvement are communicated effectively to the Global Director of SS
  • Contributes to the overall IB risk management process and monitors and manages risk within the programme
  • Communicates the global school services strategy (created by the Global Director of SS and the General Director) to MYP teams and monitors the implementation any new policies, standards, procedures and methods necessary to implement that strategy

 

Requirements: 

  • Masters’ degree required and/or a combination of experience, education and training that would provide the level of knowledge and ability required for the position
  • Teaching experience and knowledge of the MYP and IB programmes (IB workshop leader, school authorization/evaluation, IB visitor experience preferred)
  • Excellent communication skills (oral, written and presentation)
  • International business experience especially managing teams throughout various locations
  • Proficient in Office Suite and data analysis
  • Proven ability to lead
  • Fluent in French and Spanish (in addition to English) preferred
