Spanish translator -reviser

The language services department is currently seeking to appoint two translator-revisers (one for Spanish, one for French) to work on a range of documents for paper and web publication. You will revise, translate and proofread material in Spanish or French, and will be involved in the coordination of translation projects. You will work closely with other translators, revisers and terminologists in the department and with in-house editors, authors and production staff.
The following are the essential and desirable knowledge, skills and experience required for these roles:
Essential
- university graduate with a qualification in translation
- two - three years’ work experience as a full time translator or reviser, preferably in an international organization
- mastery of French or Latin American Spanish equivalent to an educated native speaker
- excellent command of English
- proven translation, revising and editing skills
- good communication and organizational skills
Desirable
- knowledge about and sensitivity to regional varieties of Spanish or French
- for the French post, knowledge of Canadian French
- some experience in project management
- interest or background in science
- experience of using computer-assisted translation software
- working knowledge of a third language
