IBAEM MYP REGIONAL MANAGER (REF 600G)

With schools as far South as Cape Town in South Africa, as far North as Tromsø in Norway, as far East as Vladivostok in Russia and as far West as in Reykjavík in Iceland, the IB Africa, Europe, Middle East region is both large and culturally very diverse. At present there are more than 720 schools in 81 countries teaching one or more of the three IB programmes. All three IB official languages—English, French and Spanish—are represented among the IB World Schools in our region but we support schools working in many more. The growth rate has been around 15% in each of the last five years.

School services department within the region deals with all services associated with authorization and programme evaluation of schools for the three programmes. An important dimension of this activity is growing and developing the team of IB practitioners that make this work possible.

 

About the role

The MYP manager IBAEM plays a strategic role in the implementation and development of the programme in the region by identifying opportunities for growth, anticipating implementation challenges and risks.

As we achieve the projected 2020 growth, this position will require an ongoing expansion and increase of outsourced activities, ensuring continuous training and development of IB practitioners, high service satisfaction from schools and compliance with programme requirements, through the implementation of globally developed quality assurance tools. 

This role reports to the Head of School Services IBAEM and has a close working relationship with the PYP and DP Programme Managers, schools, IB academic development, IB practitioners and finance.

Education, Experience & Languages:

  • Tertiary degree and/or a combination of experience, education and training that would provide the level of knowledge and ability required for the position
  • Minimum 5 years MYP experience as a teacher and/or MYP coordinator
  • Knowledge of the Africa/Europe and Middle East region, its schools and educational systems, an advantage
  • Excellent written and spoken skills in English are essential
  • French and/or Spanish would be a distinct advantage.

Requested skills:

  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral are essential
  • High-level organizational, including ability to handle priorities
  • Management skills to motivate and develop a team of IB practitioners
  • Good interpersonal skills, with an aptitude to work in multifunctional and multicultural teams.

 

Location

Position initially based in Geneva, Switzerland, planned to relocate to the Amsterdam area in The Netherlands.
