Translation services manager Ref 151

Salary: £27,565 - £34,456

The person in this new position in the language services department will work closely with the head of language services and the French, Spanish and Chinese translation team leaders to ensure an efficient translation production process, with particular emphasis on quality and timely deliverables. The jobholder will develop and monitor service levels across all areas of the language services activities to ensure the quality of the service overall. Particular responsibilities will include managing complex multilingual projects and projects in languages not supported by the internal translators. The jobholder will also be responsible for managing the relationship with external language suppliers, and will be the main contact with internal customers.

The successful candidate will have a university degree or equivalent, and a qualification in translation. S/he will have extensive experience working in a management position preferably in translation, although candidates with an editing or publishing background might also be considered. S/he will have proven project management experience and a high level of computer literacy. An excellent command of the English language is essential as is having excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills. The job does not involve language work, but knowledge of other languages is highly desirable, and understanding quality assurance issues in translation is essential.
