IB announces new Chief Information Officer

Eric Lauzon - Chief Information OfficerInternational Baccalaureate, 22 May 2009: The IB is pleased to announce the appointment of Eric Lauzon as the new Chief Information Officer (CIO). Eric’s appointment is in line with the IB’s 2020 vision project, launched to ensure the sustainability and future growth of the IB for years to come.

Eric will be leading information communication technology (ICT) through the 2020 restructure and be making the necessary strategic changes so that the department will be positioned to provide a service that meets the needs of a growing organization.  The role will be based in IB Singapore, which will ultimately become one of three new global centres created to enable the IB to spread leadership and expertise around the world, and be closer to its worldwide community of over 2,600 schools..

Of the appointment, Daniel Benham, chief financial and support services officer, said, “We are delighted that Eric will be joining the IB at a time of growth and structural transformation. His leadership, skills and experience will meet the challenges associated with introducing new technologies, leading to a best in class service both internally and to our worldwide community of schools. Furthermore as a parent and a contributor to the one laptop per child programme, Eric is a great match to the organization’s mission and values”

Eric comes to the IB with extensive experience in managing large teams across multiple countries and complex projects within time and budgetary constraints as chief information officer and research and development leader with Nortel in Singapore, China, UK and Canada.  He has proven capabilities in strategic IT initiatives and has overseen their implementation in an international environment, working on a global stage.

Eric’s leadership of the ICT function will contribute to and ensure that the IB is structured, managed and resourced to support an anticipated 10,000 IB World Schools and 2½ million students by 2020.
