IB Academy: 15 - 19 June
San Diego, California, USA!
Dear IB practitioners,
IB Academies are generally held four to five times annually to prepare IB Educators for the roles of Workshop Leader, Site Visitor and Consultant. If you are an IB teacher or administrator with three or more years of experience at an IB World School, and are interested in applying for an IB Academy, read on!
The IB Educator Network is giving you advance notice of our third IB Academy of 2012. It will be held in San Diego, CA, US from 15 through 19 June, 2012. The language of instruction at this IB Academy will be English, and will – this time round – run for the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and the Diploma Programme (DP).
While we invite all applications from qualified practitioners, during our selection process priority will be given to:
- practitioners who have a track record of ongoing professional development in PYP, MYP or DP;
- practitioners who work at IB World Schools that have no trained IB Educators (PYP & MYP);
- PYP teachers of Physical Education, the Arts, or Early Years classes;
- MYP teachers of the Humanities and Language B Spanish;
- DP teachers of Sports Exercise and Health Science, World Religions, TOK, Environmental Systems and Societies, Computer Science and Design Technology.
We made some important changes to our application processes. The application website is now accessible throughout the year. However, there will be deadlines by which you’ll need to register for each event. The application deadline for the San Diego Academy is 9 April, 2012. Once you have completed your application at http://www.volunteers.apteknet.com, be sure to register for the event in order to be considered.
An important note to IB practitioners who applied to participate in an academy in the past:
- If you applied for a 2011 Academy but were not selected, you only need to register your interest for San Diego to be reconsidered .
- If you applied before 2011, you will need to re-apply if you wish to be considered for this and any future academies.
If you have any questions about becoming an IB Educator, please do not hesitate to contact iba.educator.network@ibo.org .
Additional application documents that you will need to include:
- a CV/Resume;
- a Unit Planner (PYP & MYP only);
- a letter of reference from your Head of School and/or IB Coordinator.
You will also be asked to sign and upload terms and conditions that will be provided on the application website.
This notice will also be posted on http://www.ibo.org/iba/iben/academy.cfm.
Sincerely,
IB Educator Network
