Focus on International School Ho Chi Minh City
The International School Ho Chi Minh City (ISHCMC) is the longest established International School in southern Vietnam and the only one authorized to offer all three IB programs.
ISHCMC was founded in 1993. The school is a non denominational, co-educational and multicultural international school providing a broad based education in the English medium. Over 860 students attend the school which provides programmes of study from 2 years of age to Grade 12 at 18 years of age. The multi-national composition of the school is a great strength.
Over the last fourteen years the school has forged meaningful links with the host country community, both locally and regionally, through diverse activities such as the IBPYP “Wildlife At Risk” initiative, the IBMYP Community and Service projects, the IBDP CAS and TOK projects in Long Hai and Angkor Wat and the whole school support of the Loreto Foundation.
Last year’s IBPYP Exhibition, for example, focused on “Extinction”. Our Grade 5 students formed a partnership with a local organization “Wildlife at Risk.” This partnership provided the students with a real sense of direction and accomplishment. The organization gained financial support and a big boost to its profile in Vietnam. Our students gained a real sense that they could make a difference. This relationship has continued through our Elementary Student Representative Council, which again has been rewarding for both the students and the organization.
The school was recently awarded the Australian Chamber of Commerce Community Service Award 2006 in recognition of our students’ sustained involvement in community service projects in Vietnam.
