IB Asia Pacific 23rd Annual Regional Conference
The China Office looks forward to welcoming participants from across Asia Pacific to the 23rd Annual Regional Conference to be held in Beijing in October. The China Office has been supporting the events staff in Singapore with general arrangements and specifically arrangements for visas for participants and presenters. Thank you also to Anne Fowles, Head at BISS (and IB Asia Pacific Regional Council member) for her support in these arrangements.
News From Beijing City International School (BCIS)
In May, BCIS welcomed the MYP Authorisation team, which consisted of the IBAP MYP team and Nélida Antuna Baragano, the Authorization/Evaluation Director from IB Geneva. The visit was successful and BCIS is now authorised to offer the MYP. There are now 16 schools in mainland China authorised to offer the MYP.
In May, BCIS’s Grade 10 students spent the afternoon having personal interviews with administration staff and Board members to have a chance to talk about their projects. Upon completion, the students collated a presentation for the BCIS community, addressing their own parents, the Grade 9 students and their parents as well as others by explaining the process, giving advice, and showing off their projects. The Grade 10 students had a different celebration by dining with their supervisors à la Chinese in a nearby restaurant.
BCIS will have the opportunity to welcome colleagues from around the region to the IB workshops that they are hosting from 13 - 15 October 2008 immediately prior to the Conference.
