International Education Research Database
The international education research database was initiated in 2002. This is a collaborative effort by a range of different parties interested in promoting international education.
The database has been assembled using a wide range of resources and methods. It is a referencing resource, rather than an online library, and does not hold the actual publications.
The database is updated regularly. It currently holds more than 4,700 references and is accessed by researchers throughout the world. Future plans include restructuring the database as it expands, in order to make browsing and searching even easier and more straightforward.
Please refer to the provisional list of rules below concerning what the database currently includes/excludes.
Inclusion categories
- All publications with “international education”, “international schools”, “Third Culture Kids”, “International Baccalaureate” in the title
- All articles from the International Schools Journal (ISJ)
- All or most articles from the Journal of Research in International Education (JRIE), Journal of Studies in International Education, Globalisation, Societies and Education, Intercultural Education and other relevant journals
- Comparative or other publications that involve educational fieldwork in more than two countries, and are concerned with issues that transcend national borders
- Exceptionally, comparative or other publications that involve educational fieldwork in only one country, but are concerned with broader issues that transcend national borders
- All publications in any of the above categories that concern schools, colleges, universities and any other educational institutions
- All publications in any of the above categories that concern the international educational experience of students, parents, teachers, managers and others
- Publications from other areas that are relevant to international education, for example, multicultural studies, management studies.
Exclusion categories
- Publications that are concerned with education, whether in theory or practice, if they do not refer to international education
- Publications concerned with teaching practices, or any article that serves as a manual for a particular practice or system
- Publications concerned exclusively with national issues
- Comparative or other publications with a very narrow scope.
